Westchester Child Therapy’s Family-School Liaison program is a unique resource that includes progressive, collaborative, thoughtful consultation for parents that considers the learning and social emotional needs of children. Our Family-School Liaison utilizes extensive clinical knowledge to help parents:
- Interpret assessment results
- Navigate public, independent, and special needs school systems
- Coordinate, evaluate, and secure services and appropriate school placements
The process begins with an in-office consultation session with parents to understand the child’s needs and determine available programs and services. Advocacy may also include facilitation of parent-school communication, participation at school-based meetings, collaboration with professionals, and accompanying parents to view and evaluate the suitability of school programs. We provide parents with the understanding and techniques needed to work on their child’s behalf since it is our belief that parents are their child’s primary advocates.
